Seascapes

In this body of work Katha Seidman explores how the ever-changing movement of air and light over the surface of water inspires imaginary journeys.  They are made from plaster on wood, acrylic and oil paint, and various found objects.

In this series, Seidman exposes worlds beyond or beneath the surface, juxtaposing the real with the illusionary by cutting holes or using zippers to expose regions inside the painted image.  By layering collage and painted elements Seidman enhances the narrative mystery contained within the piece.
